Sportacular Activity Book
The Sportacular Activity Book seeks to provide children with requisite information about indigenous and sustainable sporting endeavors like kabaddi, whilst highlighting the importance of environmentally-friendly sports. Additionally, with information on popular sports including basketball, football, and cricket, as well as prominent sports persons in each field, and interactive pop quizzes, coloring exercises, and reflection questions, we hope to spread awareness about the physical and social importance of sports, and inculcate ideals of teamwork, creativity, collaboration, sustainability, and sportsmanship amongst the youth!
Need Assessment Survey
A need assessment survey of existing sports facilities in schools in Kolkata was conducted in partnership with Emami’s CSR team, inquiring into the availability and condition of existing sports facilities and sports programs, any specific challenges faced in conducting sports programs in school, and whether the schools would benefit from additional sporting facilities. Based on the results of the survey, we identified the Jamaibati High School school for the construction of the sporting facilities.
Tee Time Surveys
Pre-Impact Survey
The pre-impact Tee Time Survey was developed and administered to students at the Jamaibati High School in Kolkata in January 2024 to understand the interests, preferences, and access of students at these schools with regard to physical activity, sports, and sporting equipment and facilities to better inform the creation of the sporting facilities.
Post-Impact Survey
The post-impact Tee Time Survey was developed and administered to students at the Jamaibati High School in Kolkata in October 2024, 2 months after the installation of the facilities, to understand the change created by the initiative. Results showed that all respondents now engaged in sports 4-5 times a week, the most used facilities were the running facilities followed by football, and students reported increased levels of participation and encouragement to play sports with the addition of the new facilities.
