Manan Goenka is a student at UWC South East Asia (Dover Campus) in Singapore, studying Economics, Geography, Mathematics, English, and Hindi as part of the IB curriculum. He is deeply passionate about environmental sustainability and its interplay with the economics discipline, and writes about entrepreneurial innovation in today’s age and the challenges of building businesses in the era of climate change.
Enthusiastic about taking learning beyond school curriculum, Manan attended Columbia University’s pre-college summer program, studying the course ‘Entrepreneurship and Innovation: Changing the World via Venture Creation’. This experience introduced him to the nuances of socially-driven innovation, a realm of great interest to him. In school, he is an active member of the Bombay Street Kids Global Concern community where he facilitates fundraising events for children of underserved communities in Mumbai along with his peers. He is also part of other school service programs including Initiative for Peace which focuses on peacebuilding initiatives and global issues, as well as Genesis, where he works with differently abled children to help them learn the basics of sporting endeavors.
Manan is also a proficient athlete in both tennis and badminton, playing in his school team. Realizing how essential sports have been in his personal development, he decided to launch Sporting Dreams in June 2023 in an attempt to offer the same opportunities for holistic growth to other children.
